Hello to one and all from Makings HQ!!
Halloween 2018 is now behind us and it’s almost time to start preparing for the Big Man's arrival in December!! It’s been a great year so far for Makings, dare we say our best yet. Last week we really enjoyed our return to the GIGONOMETRY stage in The Underground, Dublin 2 as part of their Rewind Series. Huge thanks to Dave Conway and his team for having us back, we had a real blast. We also recently played Sin E, Dublin for the very first time, and what a night that was! Huge thanks to Christina and the guys for having us, what a superb little venue with a fantastic buzz, we can't wait to be back. Earlier in the year we returned to the UK to play 'Lechlade Music Festival' where we were well looked after, and huge thanks to Mark Beaumont for having us in Camden Town’s 'The Monarch'. On our return to Ireland we stopped in at the exceptional Vantastival, Drogheda followed by a headline gig for you YouBloom Festival, Dublin.
2018 saw the release of highly anticipated new material, three new tracks with accompanying videos. 'Blackhole', followed by 'Pulse' and "Beck N Call'. We enlisted the help of Jim Lowe (Grammy award winning engineer/mixer/producer) on mixing duties for all three tracks and were delighted with the results. Our very own Rick Burn directed and edited the videos with the help of Joe McNulty on camera and Alex Danzig with editing.
2018 also brought us the immense pleasure and excitement of welcoming two new band members, the massive talent and wonderful prowess of Cairon420 and Juliana. Their presence both in the recording studio and onstage is the cherry on the Makings Cake and to say we are excited about the future of the group would be a very serious understatement!!
So, as we push forward and edge our way into the tail of 2018, we would sincerely like to welcome you all to finish out the year on a high with us. We have two very special shows planned, our (4th) Annual Huckster's Ball in Ballybofey, Donegal, is on Wed 26th December at 8pm, where we will be joined by a host of local and very talented acts. Secondly for you folks down south we will be headlining a special FlutterTone event in the Grand Social, Dublin on Sat 29th December at 8pm flanked by Dublin's excellent 'The Villa'. We can’t think of a better way to close out the year, and early 2019 will bring some very exciting announcements, so do stay tuned..
